WHO HAVE TO APPLY ?

Foreign film producers, directors and companies who want to shoot a film (a documentary, motion picture, TV film, TV series, TV show, short film, music video, corporate video, online contents, video clip or commercial)  in Turkey have to apply to the Directorate General of Cinema to obtain filming permit.

For the photography productions, to obtain a permit photographers have to apply directly to “ Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism” offices.

According to the regulations, during the film shooting it is obligatory to have at least one host who is a citizen of the Turkish Republic.

HOW LONG IN ADVANCE SHOULD I APPLY FOR A FILMING PERMIT ?

Normally it requires up to one week for processing from the date we apply for the permit. However, the time it takes to approve a permit will depend on the scale of your production.

After you obtained your permission, you may still need to ask for an additional permit from the highest authority of the local administration for the locations and from the public agency or private institution for the places which require special permit.

For this reason, we recommend that you apply for a filming permit at least 2-3 weeks before your planned shooting date.

TURKEY  – FILMING PERMIT PROCESS

1 – You need to make sure the requirements are ready for the application ;

* Synopsis : A brief summary to give an idea of what your project is about. Should be both in English and Turkish.

* Scenario (film script) Of Movie/ TV Film / Tv Series / Short Film

* Name, Occupation and Contact information of the people to be interviewed with

* Locations of the Project  : Please give us a call to discuss the locations and intending filming plans.

* Crew Information : Name, Surname, Phone number, Address and Passport copies of each crew member traveling to Turkey

* According to the regulations, who have to be working with a local partner. And add the documents of the local producer and your local production partner company.  ( Job Status Certificate and Identity Card Copy )

* If you are planing to bring any equipment to Turkey, then you also have to provide a list of the equipments.

2- Once you prepare all the documents, you’re ready to submit your permit application. Submitting your applications is easy if you let us help you ..

3- Once your permit has been approved you can print out the approved permits and apply for visa . Your filming permit will be considered as an invitation during your visa applications.

4- Please note that the “filming permit” is a general permission obtained from Directorate General of Cinema, which allows you to shoot in Turkey.

But you still need to ask for an additional permit from the highest authority of the local administration in which the place of film shooting is located and from the public agency or private institution for the places which require special permit.
